Our flagship ULTIMA amplifier topology has been incorporated into a new mono power amplifier, the ULTIMA 3, as part of our 30th-anniversary celebrations.

The new ULTIMA amplifier topology (previously exclusive to the ULTIMA power amp) is now more affordable than ever, having also been incorporated into the new ULTIMA 3 mono power amp, which is a thoroughbred Chord Electronics design in every respect, sharing the same successful formula as its flagship cousin.

The new 480-watt ULTIMA 3 replaces the SPM 1400 MKII and is positioned within our full-size range. The amplifier has a redesigned fascia featuring John Franks’ latest aesthetic. The precision-machined, CNC-milled fascia is crafted from aircraft-grade aluminum and features a reassuringly solid 28mm-thick front panel, complemented by a recessed, spherical polycarbonate power button that illuminates for standby and operation; a discreet and hidden front-panel switch, located in the vertical split line, allows for dimming of the lighting.

Like all full-size and reference-range Chord Electronics amplifiers, the new ULTIMA 3 is available in a choice of Jett Black or Argent Silver. The amplifier can also be ordered with the famous Integra-leg stacking system in Jett Black, Argent Silver, or Nickel finishes, or with high-gloss black acrylic side blocks. The rear of the amplifier features both balanced and unbalanced connections, high-quality loudspeaker terminals, a 12V trigger, and a C-19-type IEC inlet.
