Inspired by "analog record concerts" at the Bridgestone Museum of Art in Tokyo, Hideo Matsushita founded Audio-Technica in Shinjuku. The first products, the AT-1 and AT-3, were successes and enabled expansion to Machida. Matsushita said: "I wanted to offer more people the opportunity to experience the beauty and warmth of analog music."
