BRIDGEABLE 8-CHANNEL AMPLIFIER WITH BALANCED INPUTS
The A35.8 is the most powerful and flexible multi-channel amplifier Primare has ever designed and built. It is conceived to meet the demands of nearly any high-performance multi-channel system. Each pair of channels in the A35.8 can be bridged to mono, delivering up to 750 watts per channel into 4 ohms. This allows for diverse system options, up to 1500 watts of total output power in a fully bridged bi-amping stereo configuration.
The XLR and RCA inputs are selectable for each pair of the 8 channels. A maximum of 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms is available.
Each speaker output pair can be bridged separately, making almost any multi-channel configuration (4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 channels) possible. Either as a stand-alone unit, or e.g., in combination with an A35.2 stereo amplifier.
For additional convenience, the A35.8 offers an automatic wake-up function from standby, as well as an automatic standby function when no signal is detected at the input jacks for 20 minutes. Both can be disabled if desired, allowing the A35.8 to operate in continuous mode. Naturally, the A35.8 also offers the option of being switched on or off via trigger.
SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONS
The versatile bridging options of the A35.8 allow for a wide variety of system configurations, whether as a stand-alone device or in combination with a stereo amplifier:
• 5.1, 7.1, and 5.1.2 systems can be realized with one A35.8
• 5.1.4, 7.1.2, 7.1.4 systems can be implemented with a combination of an A35.8 and an A35.2
• 9.1.6 and 13.1 Auro 3D systems can be built using two A35.8 units.
AMPLIFIER TECHNOLOGY
The sophisticated design of the A35.8 circuit layout enables both an extremely short and highly uniform power supply to the amplifier modules, which are housed directly in the heatsinks, simultaneously protecting them from power supply noise.
This construction also isolates the input and output stages from any noise that the amplifier modules might generate.
Input and output signals are routed to and from the amplifier module via a fully continuous circuit trace. This enables the shortest possible signal paths for each channel.
STATUS INDICATOR SYSTEM
To keep you informed about the status of the A35.8 at all times, the amplifier has a red LED on each amplifier module, visible from above through the cover, which flashes during clipping. Additionally, there are 8 more LEDs located under the top cover at the front of the A35.8.
• LED lit: DC is present at the respective amplifier module.
• LED flashing: the affected amplifier module is overheated.
• All LEDs flashing: The power supply is overheated.
THE POWER SUPPLY
The foundation of the A35.8 is the largest and most powerful power supply Primare has ever built. With APFC and soft-clipping, it is possible to operate the power supply to the limits of its capabilities. Dual connections ensure that each group of 4 amplifier modules is supplied with power via the shortest possible connection path.
