The new centerpiece of your music system: The ACOUSENCE dac-pre UX D/A converter and preamplifier

The ACOUSENCE dac-pre is available in two versions: The "standard" operates with our sophisticated arfi-DAC topology, meaning four converter signals generate the stereo signal via a transformer I/V stage. The "reference" operates with the arfi-reference-DAC topology, meaning eight converter signals generate the stereo signal via a premium transformer I/V stage. The remaining equipment of both versions is adjusted accordingly in its transmission quality. The musical character of both versions is, however, very similar and offers in any case the pleasure of listening to music that is so centrally important to us. The "reference" does, however, provide slightly more fine detail with even further increased dynamics. Since both versions are built on the same basis and the design is kept very modular, upgrading from "standard" to "reference" is possible at any time without any problems; if necessary, also in several steps. Thus, the "standard" allows for a more affordable entry into the musical enjoyment provided by ACOUSENCE, and later it can be upgraded to the maximum expansion stage of the "reference".

Since music today is mostly available in digital form – from CD to high-res streaming – the DA converter/preamplifier ACOUSENCE dac-pre becomes the centerpiece of such a music system. The key to the music lies in the adequate conversion of digital music data into analog – "real" – music. This is where it is decided whether music touches you.

This core task is performed by the digital-to-analog converter, or "dac" for short. At the same time, it also includes other supplementary tasks of a classic preamplifier: managing analog sources including Phono-MM, as well as directly controlling the power amplifier or active speakers via a high-quality volume control.

Less is more

Most of the sonically important tasks are already combined in this one device. This offers great advantages, as greater complexity in the setup would only place unnecessary hurdles in the way of the longed-for musical enjoyment: many individual components want to be carefully combined and connected with each other. Only the tasks that are better handled in separate units anyway are outsourced. For the subsequent stage, we offer the pow-amp power amplifier as the perfect complement. As the stage before it, our mu-se music server is the ideal player for organizing digital music data and controlling playback. This results in a slim and well-coordinated setup as an easy path to your personal musical experience!

ddUSB (double-decoupled USB)

The UX in the name stands for a currently globally unique feature of the dac-pre-reference UX: A galvanically isolated USB interface, where the electronics of the primary side are located outside the device housing in a small tube, and a special component exactly at the level of the housing wall ensures a galvanically isolated coupling to the secondary side and thus the audio electronics inside the housing. This guarantees the purest sound without external interference.

Until now, ACOUSENCE had no USB interface in its range for good reason. Because even though it is widely used, the USB interface is the worst of all possible interfaces for audio. Because, unlike AES/EBU, SPDIF, or network, it could not be galvanically isolated until now. Thus, high-frequency interference from data processing in computers, music servers, or streamers was inevitably brought directly into the sensitive audio environment. And such high-frequency interference is always abundant in such devices, as this is virtually the "operating noise" of this class of devices.

Now, through our new development ddUSB, this high-frequency interference is reliably kept outside the housing. A special component exactly at the level of the housing wall creates a signal-technical connection between the inside and outside without a direct physical connection; similar to how an isolation transformer does, for example.

Additionally, the part that controls the USB communication inside the device is then once again galvanically isolated from the further digital signal processing in the device.

The USB input is thus doubly decoupled from all sound-critical sections.
