Revolutionary HEXA audio architecture

The Astell&Kern PD10 adopts the innovative HEXA audio circuit of the SP3000 reference model and is the world's first digital audio player to feature the new AKM AK4498EX DACs.

Four AK4498EX digital-to-analog converters work in tandem with two separate AK4191EQ digital processors, allowing digital and analog signal processing to be completely separated. This sophisticated architecture minimizes interference, reduces signal loss, and enables exceptionally precise, natural, and detailed music reproduction.

Independent dual audio circuits

Unlike conventional digital audio players, the PD10 features two completely separate audio circuits for balanced and unbalanced outputs.

This means each output is processed independently, ensuring that maximum sound quality is always available without signal loss, regardless of the connection used.

Dual amplifier with intelligent impedance matching

The PD10 features two specially developed amplifier stages that are optimally tuned to different headphones.

The normal-gain amplifier delivers an especially clean, low-noise sound for sensitive in-ear monitors. The high-gain amplifier offers significantly higher power reserves and drives even demanding high-end headphones with impressive dynamics and spaciousness.

Smart Gain – Automatic amplifier adjustment

Thanks to the intelligent Smart Gain technology, the PD10 automatically detects the impedance of the connected headphones.

• Headphones up to 32 ohms automatically use the normal-gain mode.

• Headphones over 32 ohms automatically switch to high-gain mode.

This ensures that every pair of headphones operates with optimal amplification at all times – without the need for manual settings.

Full Android operating system

The PD10 is the first Astell&Kern digital audio player with full Android operating system support.

Thanks to the proprietary Astell&Kern Direct Path (ADP) technology, the limitations of Android audio processing are completely bypassed. This allows music to be played back in a bit-perfect and lossless manner – even when streaming via popular music services.

Second-generation DAR

With the new Digital Audio Remaster (DAR) technology, Astell&Kern takes digital signal processing to a new level.

Before actual upsampling, the Virtual Sound Extender (VSE) technology reconstructs lost overtones and improves the sound structure in the very first processing step. The DAR engine then optimizes the signal through high-precision upsampling, ensuring an exceptionally natural, detailed, and authentic music playback.
