The Astell&Kern PD10 adopts the innovative HEXA audio circuitry of the flagship SP3000 and is among the first digital audio players to feature four AKM AK4498EX DACs and two AK4191EQ digital processors.

By completely separating digital and analog signal processing, interference is effectively minimized. The result is exceptionally precise, transparent, and detailed music playback with impressive dynamics and spatiality.

Separate audio circuits for the highest sound quality

Unlike conventional DAPs, the PD10 uses two completely independent audio circuits for balanced and unbalanced outputs.

This prevents signal loss between output stages and ensures that each connection delivers its maximum sound quality – regardless of whether you are using in-ear monitors or demanding high-end headphones.

Dual amplifier with intelligent impedance matching

The PD10 features two specially developed amplifier stages for different headphone types.

The normal-gain amplifier impresses with a particularly low noise floor and is ideal for sensitive in-ear monitors. The high-gain amplifier provides significantly more power reserves for high-impedance and power-hungry headphones, ensuring impressive dynamics and a larger soundstage.

Smart Gain – Automatic amplifier selection

With the intelligent Smart Gain technology, the PD10 automatically detects the impedance of the connected headphones.

• Up to 32 ohms, the normal-gain mode is automatically activated.

• Above 32 ohms, the player independently switches to high gain.

This ensures that every pair of headphones always operates with optimal amplification – without the need for manual settings.

Docking station for the perfect hi-fi system

The included docking station turns the PD10 into a high-quality audio source for stationary hi-fi systems.

Equipped with balanced XLR outputs, a USB port, and a charging function, the player integrates seamlessly into high-end stereo systems or active speakers. The integrated LED display shows the current bitrate in real time, underlining the system's professional standard.

Thanks to Roon Ready, AirPlay support, AK File Drop, as well as full Android support, streaming services and music libraries can be enjoyed with ease. With a future firmware update, the player will also receive the full Android operating system, the new generation 4.5 user interface, and the latest DAR technology, as already used in the flagship SP4000.

Music files are played back natively up to 32-bit / 768 kHz PCM as well as DSD512. Modern Bluetooth codecs such as LDAC, LHDC, and aptX HD also allow for high-quality wireless music playback.
