The ATC SCA2 is ATC’s reference preamplifier and is considered one of the brand's most sonically sophisticated analog control units. It was specifically developed to extract maximum performance from ATC studio monitors as well as high-end power amplifiers, while providing a completely unadulterated, neutral, and extremely low-distortion audio signal.

Inside, it utilizes a fully discrete Class-A circuit that consciously avoids integrated circuits in the signal path. This allows the SCA2 to achieve very high transparency, exceptional detail resolution, and an extremely wide bandwidth extending beyond 500 kHz, practically eliminating phase shifts in the audible range.

The construction is designed as an uncompromising dual-mono-style architecture and offers a large number of both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) inputs and outputs. This allows the SCA2 to be integrated flexibly into classic high-end systems as well as active studio setups. Additionally, a high-quality phono stage optimized for MM and MC cartridges can be integrated as an option.

Typical of ATC is the design focus on absolute signal purity rather than sonic coloration: the SCA2 operates with extremely low noise, high current delivery, and very low distortion, even with long cable runs and difficult loads. As a result, the music signal remains completely controlled and dynamic, without artificial emphasis on individual frequency ranges.

Visually, the SCA2 features classic ATC styling—simple, functional, and sturdily built—and is handcrafted in England. It serves as the central control unit in high-end systems where maximum neutrality and precision are the priority.
