When HIFIMAN introduced the SUSVARA model in 2017, no one believed that a headphone in this price range would find a market at all. Difficult to drive, high-resolution, and coming from China with gold conductive traces? With diaphragms thinner than a hair? Reality has shown that top-tier sound quality can certainly prevail.

At High End 2024, HIFIMAN mastermind Dr. Fang Bian presented a new model intended to complement, but not replace, the Susvara. The Susvara Unveiled dispenses with the protective grille on the side of the drivers and now uses pure silver conductive traces. The efficiency is slightly increased. It no longer features wood accents, instead opting for a pure aluminum housing, and is above all intended for experienced hi-fi enthusiasts looking for the best.

In terms of sound, the Susvara performs even more freely and airily. The bass remains incredibly contoured yet powerful. Much more so than with the Susvara, however, the quality of the source and amplifier must be of the highest level. A computer sound card and an inexpensive desktop amp are out of place here. Top-tier amplifiers with output power of perhaps 5-10 watts into the 45-ohm impedance are appropriate. If everything is right, the Susvara Unveiled is likely the best headphone on the global market as an overall package. No other headphone delivers the musical message of a work with such coherence and transparency.

HIFIMAN provides magnetically attached covers for transport. Also included are two high-quality 3m monocrystalline copper cables, one with a 6.35 mm jack and one with a 4-pin XLR connector.
