AVID PULSARE II Phono Preamplifier
"Our goal is to experience music rather than just listen to it," was the ambitious approach of our developers after they had spent years studying the phono preamplifiers of other manufacturers. Because despite the often excellent performance of these units, there was always something missing—that certain something that brings music realistically to life, that gives listeners the feeling of being one with the music rather than just sitting in front of a hi-fi system. As a manufacturer of high-quality analog turntables, we knew exactly where we wanted to go and what obstacles had to be overcome.
Our PULSARE II embodies the pinnacle of currently achievable phono amplifiers. It operates fully balanced, is virtually noise-free, and exhibits extremely low distortion across the entire frequency spectrum. Playback quality at this level is only made possible through the consistent use of the highest quality components. Through the use of relays for every setting, the signal integrity of the circuits is never compromised at any time.
Moving Magnet or Moving Coil cartridges can be connected via either XLR or RCA inputs, and the output signal is available either balanced or unbalanced. Gain, impedance, and capacitance can be adjusted via large rotary knobs on the front panel, allowing for the use of a very wide range of cartridges. In addition, a mono switch, a switchable subsonic filter, and a custom setting for input resistance are available, allowing the PULSARE II to be precisely tuned to the values of almost any cartridge.
Also included are special RCA plugs equipped with various resistors, which can be used to change the load impedance from 47 kOhms to other values. The passive RIAA circuit with Neumann high-frequency correction consists of particularly high-quality capacitors and ensures absolutely linear playback. The separate, dual-regulated 300-watt power supply provides the phono stages with more than sufficient power.
From circuit board assembly and high-quality chassis construction to testing and quality control, the PULSARE II is manufactured in our own factory so that hi-fi fans can enjoy the full potential of vinyl playback for many years to come.
