What is new about the R 2.3 MK 2?

The ROTATION R 2.3 MK2 is the consistent evolution of the audiophile AVM turntable, featuring a proprietary AVM 9” tonearm. The new AVM tonearm for the ROTATION 2.3 MK2 version offers numerous detailed improvements, including significantly better internal damping to shift the tonearm's natural frequency even further outside the audible spectrum – for an even more natural sound image. Thanks to new manufacturing methods, the gimbal tonearm bearings of the ROTATION R 2.3 MK2 have even less play than in the MK 1 version. The motor control has also been extensively revised and operates with even greater precision than in the original version.

Visually, the resonance-free cover made of bent acrylic glass, known from the ROTATION R 5.3, has now also been adopted for the ROTATION R 2.3 MK2. Furthermore, you can add a very special touch to your listening room with the brand-new RGB platter underlighting from the ROTATION R 5.3 MK2. Use the included remote control to select a desired color, dim the platter light, or switch it off completely – for an individual, top-class listening experience.

Origin and History

Creating an analog source based on proprietary developments that meets the highest standards was a long-cherished dream and a top priority from the start for AVM owner and managing director Udo Besser. The development of AVM turntables was accompanied by new, further refined phono stages, such as the compact PH 30.3 preamplifier or the modular EVOLUTION and OVATION phono stages, which can also be equipped with exclusive tube output stages upon request.

With AVM's simultaneous expertise in both disciplines, we, as a German premium manufacturer, complete our comprehensive portfolio with an analog signal source that perfectly matches our audiophile masterpieces. All AVM turntables are equipped with tonearms specifically constructed by AVM and boast a multitude of technical refinements. This is how the first turntables in the company's history were developed in-house, serving as AVM's contribution to the resurgence of the beloved vinyl record.

In terms of technology, the ROTATION R 2.3 MK2 turntable takes its own unique path. The 9″ tonearm is exclusive to the ROTATION R 2.3 MK2 and is a proprietary AVM development. The belt drive is essentially similar to that of the larger sibling model and is designed as a single-motor drive in the R 2.3 MK 2. The ROTATION R 2.3 MK2 is based on a slim 37mm chassis made of HDF composite material, which is reinforced with aluminum trim parts to effectively suppress internal resonances. The Ortofon Cadenza MC systems RED and BLUE served as reference cartridges for the development and tonal tuning of the ROTATION R 2.3. The synergy created in this way makes these systems, exclusively manufactured by Ortofon for AVM, ideal partners for the tonearm.
