Cardas Audio's CLEAR Beyond Phono very quickly found many enthusiastic customers. However, a few buyers of the version with two RCA connectors on both sides noticed that even better sound quality could be achieved by using the CLEAR Beyond Interconnect with separate cables for the left and right channels instead of a phono cable with four internal conductors. In this configuration, each channel has four of the finest individual strands from the Cardas range at its disposal, with a bundle diameter of 0.38 mm. This results in an even richer, more spacious, and effectively larger soundstage. A turntable manufacturer whose tonearms are equipped with SME connectors requested a custom build, and Cardas came up with a corresponding solution for the HIGH END show in Munich. A prototype with the rather technical name Beyond Phono X2 has now become the production model CLEAR Beyond Dual Phono.

To prevent the two quite large individual cables from putting too much strain on the delicate tonearm wiring, Cardas has integrated an aluminum box that acts as a Y-splitter between the SME connector and the outputs. This can be attached to the turntable plinth or the rack using a screw or double-sided adhesive tape.

By design, this cable has an even lower resistance than the CLEAR Beyond Phono, but also approximately double the capacitance. This makes it an ideal partner for high-quality MC cartridges. For use with MM cartridges, the input capacitance of the phono preamplifier should be adjustable.

Technically speaking, the CLEAR Beyond Dual Phono is a special version of the CLEAR Beyond Interconnect. It uses four multi-stranded and cross-connected internal conductors, which are held stably at a distance in a complex construction of air-filled PTFE tubes. Each of the four internal conductors runs around its own Kevlar core. Two additional ground wires run in their own insulation layer—at distances from the internal conductors defined by the Golden Ratio—and are used as a ground line in the XLR configuration (+ €200). Over this lie two further shielding layers, the proportions of which also correspond to the Golden Ratio. The cable is held in shape by carbon-impregnated tapes and uses a flexible Alcryn jacket.

Available with a straight DIN plug (Cardas SDIN) or a 90° angled Cardas R-DIN plug at the input. On the output side with 2 RCA plugs or two XLR plugs.
