Tube D/A converter

Cayin's flagship tube D/A converter uses its high-quality ESS Sabre ES9038Pro to process up to 32-bit / 768 kHz as well as DSD512 and DoP256 in native mode. On the rear of the solid, contemporarily designed chassis are six different digital inputs: USB Audio, AES/EBU, BNC, RCA, Toslink, and I2S via mini-HDMI. By switching between the vacuum tube or solid-state buffer stage for the RCA and XLR outputs, the user can adjust the sound of their CS-100DAC to suit their personal taste. This also applies to the many different filter characteristics.

Two RCA and two XLR outputs each, with fixed level and variable volume, expand the range of applications. You can also use the Cayin CS-100DAC to drive power amplifiers or active speakers directly. A high-quality all-metal remote control and the smart user interface with a 3.95-inch AMOLED display also make operation a pleasure. In issue 5/19, the magazine AUDIO concluded about the Cayin CS-100DAC: “Anyone who expected the transistor to appear sober was taught otherwise, just as those who expected a warm, embellishing tube sound were. Regardless of which combinations of timbre adjustment and digital filter we tried, the result was an incredibly multifaceted, balanced, and extremely high-resolution sound.”
