Product description

N7+ brings a fully balanced Class A circuit to the headphone amplifier

The N7+ represents a clear evolution of the N7, offering you improved performance in an elegant design. This model impresses with targeted improvements that significantly enhance your listening experience:

With the N7+ Hi-Res player, Cayin introduces another highlight in the mobile Hi-Fi segment. Discretely designed D/A converters and fully balanced headphone amplifiers with bipolar transistors in Class A or Class A/B circuitry leave nothing to be desired, even for demanding high-end enthusiasts. The amplifier circuit is optimized for both the built-in balanced and unbalanced headphone outputs, ensuring that any headphone or in-ear monitor can be driven optimally.

Mobile Hi-Res player for high-end demands

A consistent high-end philosophy in the mobile Hi-Fi segment is not always easy to maintain due to the compact design. The Cayin N7+ sets new standards here with its completely symmetrical circuit and board layout. The housing is precision-machined from a special aluminum-magnesium alloy and is also a pleasure to touch thanks to its sandblasted titanium surface. Its 5-inch Full HD TFT display leaves nothing to be desired, featuring multi-touch, gesture control, and scratch-resistant glass.

Compared to its predecessor, the battery life of the built-in battery has been extended; the N7+ can last up to 13 hours (Class A/B, unbalanced).

The fully balanced volume control is provided by a dedicated circuit, allowing for adjustment in sensitive 256 steps of 0.5 dB each via the unique metal dial. This guarantees that the fully balanced headphone amplifier can drive all suitable headphones, either via the 3.5mm jack or the Pentaconn connection (4.4mm), within the optimal control range.

Many applications and highest resolution

The Cayin N7+ is not just a Hi-Res player for files and data streams up to PCM768 and DSD512, but it is capable of much more. Both unbalanced and balanced analog output jacks are available, which, thanks to the high-quality volume control, allow it to function as a compact preamplifier or, with a fixed output level, to be integrated into a home system as a network streamer.

Its USB-C output and the alternative I2S (for DSD) also provide high-quality data in its raw form if desired, allowing it to function alternatively as a streaming transport. The internal memory can be expanded to up to 1 TB with a memory card.

WiFi connectivity makes it a modern streaming device for updates and integrating streaming services. Thanks to the customized and pre-installed Android 12.0 and access to the Google Play Store, content from other streaming services or music apps such as Qobuz or Apple Music can also be played back via the N7+.

For unrestricted compatibility with wireless headphones, the N7+ can alternatively be used in transmitter mode, providing its digital data wirelessly accordingly.

Fully balanced, discrete circuit design

The bipolar output transistors of the Cayin N7+ can be operated in either Class A or Class A/B mode. This allows the sound character to be adjusted to your own preferences or the connected headphones. Class A amplification stands for a warm, maximally transparent sound. The result is a detailed, pleasant audio experience—perfect conditions for the unadulterated reproduction of modern music with many details. Class A/B, on the other hand, offers improved dynamics and fast impulse processing, often being the preferred choice for higher demands on dynamic range.

For the discrete driver stage, Cayin's developers chose dual bipolar transistors after numerous listening tests, allowing for a balanced Class A circuit in push-pull operation.

In the headphone amplifier itself, the low-noise JFET stage in differential operation drives the actual bipolar output transistors, known as BJTs (Bipolar Junction Transistors). Noise and distortion are thus reduced to an absolute minimum, and power is increased to 330mW in unbalanced and 690mW in balanced operation.
