Our Prima preamplifier is part of the stylish and compact Choral range and has been designed to complement our Etude power amplifiers. Despite its compact dimensions and space-saving footprint, the Prima is in every respect a pedigree Chord Electronics amplifier.

Machined from solid aircraft-grade aluminium, the Prima can be operated via the remote control or the front panel. The Prima’s front panel offers volume and balance control, while the top-mounted push buttons allow for input selection and tape monitoring, with the latter enabling the selection of tape outputs for recording source components. Further design features include a top-mounted display that provides information on input selection and volume, as well as a sophisticated porthole that reveals a view of the internal circuit board.

The Prima also benefits from a custom-designed ultra-high-frequency power supply that provides efficient and fast energy charging/discharging to power capacitors when required. Prima offers fully balanced circuitry throughout and useful flexibility with five inputs, four unbalanced RCAs and one balanced XLR input, as well as a balanced XLR output and a tape output. For additional versatility, the Prima’s audio circuitry offers six independent input gain settings for the five inputs and the low-impedance outputs.
