At the heart of the elaborate digital signal processing is the Blackbird WTA filter developed by Chord Electronics, featuring approximately four million filter coefficients. Together with five powerful Xilinx FPGAs and a total of 3,700 DSP cores, the Quartet enables extremely precise reconstruction and conditioning of the audio signal. Digital music signals can be upscaled to up to 768 kHz, making the upscaler an ideal addition to high-quality D/A converters and digital playback systems.

A particular strength of the Chord Electronics Quartet is its versatile connectivity. In addition to digital sources, analog signals can also be processed and subsequently upscaled via the integrated, proprietary Pulse Array ADC. This allows the Quartet to be used in purely digital as well as demanding analog and hybrid hi-fi systems.

The integrated 108-bit 10-band digital equalizer with a control range of ±18 dB allows for individual customization of the sound profile. Furthermore, the Quartet offers programmable latency between 10 milliseconds and 3 seconds.
