The Clearaudio Smart Phono V2 is a high-quality external phono preamplifier specifically designed for connecting turntables. Its purpose is to amplify and equalize the very quiet signal of a phono cartridge so that it can be processed by a standard amplifier or active speakers.

Compared to simpler phono preamps, the Smart Phono V2 offers particularly precise and linear RIAA equalization, very low distortion, and a wide dynamic range. It supports both Moving Magnet (MM) and Moving Coil (MC) cartridges and can be optimally adjusted to different systems via switchable input impedances, leading to improved sound quality.

The sturdy aluminum housing not only looks high-quality but also provides good shielding against external interference. Additionally, the Smart Phono V2 features switchable filters (e.g., subsonic filter) to reduce low-frequency noise and offers excellent channel separation, contributing to a clear, detailed sound image.
