Digital Room Acoustic Correction

Sometimes it is not enough to "just" combine the best equipment and loudspeakers – because what if the listening room poses fundamental acoustic problems that cannot be managed even with absorbers and diffusers? Especially in the bass range, amplitude peaks (so-called "standing waves") can often only be combated passively with absorber constructions that are extremely unfriendly to living spaces (and expensive). An even greater problem, however, is cancellation, i.e., when significant portions of the bass range are simply missing due to room modes.

In that case, only two things help: varying the placement of the system and the listening position – and performing an active correction of the frequency band to counteract the room acoustic phenomena. Since this would be a task taking days if done manually (with the help of a conventional equalizer), and would most likely only be crowned with dubious success, an automatic, microphone-based calibration is essential for an optimal result. With the Copland DRC 205, you now have an equally inexpensive and effective precision instrument at your disposal, with which you can get the best out of your equipment in your room. The device is looped into the tape loop of your preamplifier or integrated amplifier. The signal processing takes place at the digital level; the audio signal therefore undergoes A/D conversion, is then optimized at the digital level, and is subsequently converted back to analog.
