Single-Ended Class-A High-End Tube Amplifier

The Cayin CS-845A arrives with the ambition to redefine the standard in the tube amplifier category. This elaborately designed successor, featuring point-to-point wiring with thick silver-plated signal cables, pushes the boundaries of playback quality for tube amps even further toward the high-end realm.

The CS-845A has been significantly improved in many areas compared to existing designs. Its EI output transformers feature an extreme bandwidth to further extend the frequency response. The power supply now draws its voltage from a large-dimensioned toroidal transformer—a design known for low magnetic leakage. Yet, the heart of the CS-845A lies in its selected tubes: voltage amplification is handled by the classic WE6SN7. The outstanding 300B serves as the driver tube for the 845 output tube, which is anchored in the model name. This combination guarantees homogeneous music reproduction paired with the highest level of resolution.

For individual sound tuning according to personal preference, the negative feedback (NFB) factor can be freely selected between 0 dB and -3 dB. This allows the CS-845A to adapt its damping factor to the respective loudspeakers, enabling perfect control. Another example of the extensive attention to detail is the easy hum adjustment for the 300B via potentiometers conveniently located on the top panel. The same applies to the bias adjustment, with feedback provided by the integrated meter. Best of all: all functions, including the adjustment of the negative feedback factor, can be controlled via remote. For volume control, Cayin uses a particularly high-quality encapsulated, motorized Alps potentiometer. A pre-amplifier input allows the CS-845A to be operated as a pure power amplifier. After all, it delivers 24 watts per channel to the gold-plated speaker terminals.

To ensure that the enjoyment of this exceptionally high-fidelity and sophisticated integrated amplifier lasts a long time, the CS-845A features a tube-friendly soft-start turn-on delay for the high-voltage power supply.
