BluOS™ is a proprietary smart system developed by Bluesound for listening to and managing music. It makes no difference whether your music is stored on a computer or server on your local home network, streamed from a cloud-based music service, or if you are listening to an internet radio station. BluOS™ allows you to access music from numerous sources, organize it into cross-platform playlists, and then stream it. BluOS™ manages music data with a resolution of up to 24-bit/192 kHz and is capable of supplying multiple BluOS™ components synchronously with identical data or with different streams. The system is controlled via an easy-to-use app on your smartphone, tablet, or PC.

MULTIROOM

BluOS™ is designed for multiroom playback. Up to 64 zones can be set up and managed within a single system to provide audio to every room at different volumes and with different music. Multiple rooms or zones can also be grouped together individually if, for example, you want to listen to the same music in the living room and the kitchen.

A major advantage of BluOS™ multiroom technology is the fact that it can be set up and expanded individually according to your specific requirements. A BluOS™ multiroom system functions without control cables, the installation of which would otherwise have to be planned in detail in advance. This is because control and operation of the players take place entirely via the local network, which BluOS™ users can easily expand and improve as needed with standard repeaters and other accessories.

AIRPLAY 2

With the NPM-2i module, the SOUND HUB can be integrated into an Apple network via AirPlay 2 and then selected directly as a playback device for your music stream via your Mac, iPhone, or iPad. And if you have enabled Siri voice control on your Apple device, simply say "Hey Siri, play the latest Paul McCartney album" or "Hey Siri, play NDR 2," and your DALI HiFi system will start playback immediately.

BluOS™ APP

The BluOS™ app gives you full control over the music you want to listen to. Songs play instantly when you tap on them. You can create and edit playlists on the go by simply adding your favorite songs or albums. Playlists can be saved in the app and listened to at any time.

You can control music playback and adjust the volume using the app – even separately for each individual room in multiroom operation. The app also provides information about the quality of the music data currently being streamed, delivers detailed information about the artists, and displays album artwork.

The app uses your local music library, numerous music streaming services such as TIDAL™, Spotify™, Amazon Music HD, Idagio, Deezer, or Qobuz, as well as internet radio stations and podcasts from all over the world as data sources. Playback can be performed via any BluOS™-enabled player in your home. You simply have to tap on the song or radio station you want to hear and select which BluOS™ device should be used.

MQA CERTIFIED

The wireless DALI speaker systems CALLISTO C and RUBICON C are certified for the playback of MQA data when the optional BluOS™ expansion module NPM-2i is installed in the Sound Hub.

MQA is not a new file format, but an innovative way of packaging large music files using complex encoding, an efficient compression technique, and a digital signature so that even original studio master recordings in 24-bit/192 kHz format can be packed into comparatively small data packets and made available online. For this purpose, the music data is packed into any container such as ALAC, FLAC, or WAV. During playback via a decoder integrated into BluOS™, the player fully unpacks the file and restores it to its original format, the studio master file, without any loss.
