The wireless over-ear DALI IO-4 headphones celebrated their world premiere at IFA 2019 in Berlin and, along with their sister model the IO-6, are the first HiFi headphones in DALI’s 35-year history.

The IO-4 can be controlled via Bluetooth® 5.0 from smartphones, tablets, PCs, or TVs and also supports the high-resolution aptX® HD and AAC codecs. The latter is required for optimal sound quality when used with all Apple devices.

Drivers with 50 mm paper fiber diaphragms and optimized neodymium magnet systems ensure the typical DALI sound with low distortion, minimal coloration, and distinct fine dynamics.

The most important functions of the IO headphones are controlled via three controls: the DALI logo on the right ear cup acts as a multi-function button for play, pause, skip forward/backwards, and answering and ending calls; volume is adjusted by lightly pressing the top or bottom part of the ring surrounding the logo. "Clear Voice Communication" (CVC) ensures optimal speech quality during phone calls made via the headphones' hands-free system, while the soft pads completely enclose the ears and effectively seal out ambient noise.

The battery life of the IO-4 is up to a record-breaking 60 hours. Naturally, the headphones can also be used without battery power via the included cable.

While the IO-4 was initially available only in the two color versions Iron Black and Caramel White, the addition of the Army Green and Chalk White variants at the beginning of 2021 provides a wider selection.

PHILOSOPHY

With over 35 years of experience in developing high-quality DALI loudspeakers, we have decided to apply our passion for music and our expertise in excellent sound quality to the development of wireless headphones. Since headphones are essentially a pair of small loudspeakers mounted on your head, DALI's IO models are your personal set of portable HiFi transducers that allow you to take the authentic DALI sound with you wherever you go.

COMFORT & DESIGN

The stylish DALI IO-4 headphones are ergonomically designed to sit comfortably and securely on any head. The ear pads are made of memory foam that naturally adapts to the head, which not only keeps the headphones perfectly in position but also acoustically seals them from the outside world to create consistent acoustic conditions.

During the development of the DALI IO-4, the design brief focused on keeping the weight as low as possible so that the headphones could be worn for long periods without any problems. Every single component was carefully selected for its weight without compromising on quality or durability.

To ensure the headphones can handle all the challenges of mobile life in addition to use at home on the sofa, they are IP53 certified for protection against dust and splash water. And because the ear cups can be rotated 90 degrees in both directions, the headphones can be laid flat for compact storage or worn comfortably around the neck.

LONG BATTERY LIFE

Listening to music for days without recharging – the DALI development engineers also kept this requirement in mind during their work. A powerful 1100 mAh lithium-ion battery gives the IO-4 a runtime of up to 60 hours. You won't find better staying power anywhere else on the headphone market at the moment. Such a long battery life guarantees the freedom of not having to worry about an impending power outage.

To ensure you always know how much power is left in the battery, the IO-4 announces the current battery charge level with a voice message every time it is switched on. In addition, the battery status is visually indicated by two multi-colored LEDs on the right ear cup.

And even if there is no power left, the passive mode of the IO-4 keeps the music alive. Simply connect the headphones to your audio device using the included mini-jack cable and run the DALI IO-4 in "off" mode.
