With the Fostex TH909, an open-back model is now available in the series of Japanese high-end headphones. While retaining the excellent sound characteristics of the closed-back models, the TH909 utilizes its open construction and adapted acoustic design to deliver an expanded soundstage.

Like the closed-back models, the TH909 is equipped with the renowned 50mm 'Biodyna' diaphragms and a powerful neodymium magnetic circuit with a magnetic flux density of 1.5 Tesla (15,000 Gauss).

The etched dual-layer metal grilles are not only eye-catching but also an acoustic enhancement thanks to their low-resonance design. The housing, made of Japanese cherry birch, has been refined with "Urushi" lacquer using traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

Excellent wearing comfort is guaranteed by the low-resilience urethane ear pads, which are contoured to the shape of the head and covered in soft synthetic leather, as well as the comfortable and flexible headband.

The oxygen-free copper cable (7N OFC -> 99.99999%) on the TH909 is detachable and can optionally be replaced with a balanced cable of comparable purity. In this way, the cable, along with the gold-plated plug, contributes to an open stereo image, detailed resolution, and a transparent sound profile.
