Product description

Graham Phantom Platinum – Reference tonearm for uncompromising analog perfection

Graham Phantom Platinum – The pinnacle of analog performance

The Graham Phantom Platinum represents the peak of modern tonearm engineering and was developed for vinyl enthusiasts who accept no compromises. Featuring a specially developed carbon fiber armtube, a high-precision tungsten carbide unipivot bearing, the patented Magneglide™ stabilization, and elaborately optimized signal wiring, the Phantom Platinum sets new standards in precision, neutrality, and musicality.

Every detail of this high-end tonearm has been consistently designed to fully exploit the potential of both modern and classic cartridges and to reproduce music in its purest form.

Carbon fiber armtube for maximum rigidity and minimal resonance

At the heart of the Phantom Platinum is a specially developed tonearm tube made of high-end carbon fiber. In collaboration with a specialized manufacturer, a design was created that offers an extraordinary combination of high rigidity, low weight, and excellent resonance damping.

Compared to aluminum or titanium, the carbon fiber structure allows for even more effective control of unwanted vibrations and contributes significantly to the tonearm's exceptional sonic neutrality.

Advantages of the carbon fiber armtube

  • Higher rigidity than aluminum or titanium

  • Extremely low weight

  • Excellent resonance control

  • Improved dynamics and fine detail

  • Maximum sonic neutrality

Additionally, the lightweight magnesium headshell reduces moving mass at the end of the tonearm and significantly improves tracking ability and transient response.

Swiss precision: The tungsten carbide unipivot bearing

For the Platinum series, the legendary Graham unipivot bearing has been further refined. At its core is a high-precision tungsten carbide bearing produced to extremely tight tolerances by a Swiss micro-mechanics specialist.

The microscopically polished bearing geometry allows for nearly frictionless movement in horizontal and vertical directions, ensuring exceptionally precise tracking of the record groove.

Advantages of the precision bearing

  • Extremely low friction

  • Highest tracking accuracy

  • Superior smoothness

  • Minimized wear

  • Virtually unlimited lifespan

A specially developed silicone damping fluid additionally protects the bearing from external vibrations and ensures maximum stability.

Magneglide™ – The physics of perfect tracking

With the patented Magneglide™ stabilization system, Graham solves a central problem of classic unipivot tonearms. High-performance magnets stabilize the tonearm horizontally while fully maintaining the benefits of a nearly frictionless unipivot bearing.

As a result, tracking force remains constant even with warped records. At the same time, the system allows for precise azimuth adjustment without mechanical twisting of the headshell.

Advantages of Magneglide™

  • Constant tracking force

  • Highest tracking stability

  • Perfect azimuth control

  • Stability of a gimbal tonearm

  • Low friction of a unipivot bearing

High-speed wiring for maximum signal purity

The Phantom Platinum features completely newly developed internal wiring made of high-purity, 4N silver-plated copper. The signal conductors are surrounded by a spiral ground shield and additionally protected by a special silicone damping.

Ultra-fine stranded conductors with a diameter of only 42 AWG are used inside. This keeps the tonearm's freedom of movement fully intact and ensures the music signal is transmitted almost without loss.

Sonic advantages

  • Lightning-fast signal transmission

  • Higher transparency

  • Greater dynamics

  • Finer detail resolution

  • More natural tonal colors

The result is an exceptionally direct connection between the cartridge and the phono preamplifier – without the disruptive influences of conventional insulation materials.

Interchangeable armtube for maximum flexibility

Like all tonearms in the Phantom series, the Phantom Platinum features a detachable armtube. This allows cartridges to be mounted safely and precisely outside the turntable and to be changed comfortably.

This design not only simplifies setup considerably but also enables the use of multiple cartridges at the highest level of precision.

Highlights of the Graham Phantom Platinum

  • Reference tonearm of the absolute top class

  • Specially developed carbon fiber armtube

  • Lightweight magnesium headshell

  • High-precision tungsten carbide unipivot bearing

  • Swiss precision manufacturing

  • Patented Magneglide™ stabilization

  • Improved 4N silver-plated copper wiring

  • Extremely low friction and highest tracking stability

  • Interchangeable armtube for maximum flexibility

  • Exceptional dynamics, spatiality, and neutrality

Conclusion

The Graham Phantom Platinum combines state-of-the-art material technology, the most precise manufacturing, and decades of experience in tonearm construction into one of the most impressive analog solutions worldwide. Thanks to the carbon fiber armtube, Swiss tungsten carbide bearing, Magneglide™ technology, and uncompromisingly optimized signal path, it achieves a level of naturalness, resolution, and musicality that meets even the highest expectations.

For ambitious vinyl lovers and high-end enthusiasts, the Graham Phantom Platinum is one of the best tonearms available today.
