The Naim Hi-Line is a high-quality interconnect cable, developed in parallel with our flagship CD555 player to outperform the already excellent standard cable in every respect. In developing the Hi-Line, we addressed every aspect of cable technology, as we wanted to improve the interconnect as a whole rather than just focusing on the conductors and insulation, as is common practice.

This led to the creation of the Hi-Line interconnect. It features the patented, decoupling Air-PLUG. Available in both DIN and RCA versions, this plug prevents the transmission of vibrations picked up by the cable via airborne sound, thereby preserving the musicality of your system.

Technology
The decoupling construction of the Air-PLUG prevents the transmission of vibrations generated within the connected components or picked up by the cable via airborne sound, thereby preserving signal integrity. The transition between the plug and the cable consists of interlocking rings that form a flexible, vibration-dampening "caterpillar." The cable is elastically connected to the plug. The metal content in the Air-PLUG has been kept to a minimum to prevent electromagnetic effects. The construction of the cable itself minimizes eddy currents, and a specially developed clamping mechanism prevents the cable from being compressed, which would otherwise alter its impedance.

The Hi-Line interconnect has been developed with the utmost care and with a focus on optimal sound quality. It contains four strands, each consisting of 80 individual wires. The strands are insulated with PTFE, Kapton, and PTFE tape and twisted into pairs, which are then covered with a semi-conductive shielding to prevent static build-up. A copper braid screen is placed over this shielding, followed by a wrapping of PTFE tape. Two such twisted pairs are then wrapped in several layers of PTFE tape and encased in a rubber jacket. The result is a dual-channel cable in which the signal conductor and signal ground are held at a defined distance from each other, which prevents field effects.
