The Naim Hi-Line is a high-performance interconnect developed in parallel with our flagship CD555 player, designed to outperform our already excellent standard cable in every respect. In developing the Hi-Line, we addressed every aspect of cable technology, as we wanted to improve the interconnect as a whole rather than just focusing on conductors and insulation, as is common practice.

This led to the creation of the Hi-Line interconnect. It features the patented Air-PLUG decoupling plug. Available in DIN or RCA versions, this connector prevents the transmission of mechanical vibrations picked up by the cable through airborne sound, thereby preserving the musicality of your system.

Technology
The decoupling design of the Air-PLUG prevents the transmission of vibrations generated by the connected equipment or picked up by the cable through airborne sound, thus maintaining signal integrity. The transition between plug and cable consists of interlocking rings that form a flexible, vibration-damping "grommet." The cable is flexibly connected to the plug. The metal content in the Air-PLUG has been kept to a minimum to prevent electromagnetic effects. The cable's construction itself minimizes eddy currents, and a specially developed clamping mechanism prevents the cable from being crushed, which would otherwise alter its impedance.

The Hi-Line interconnect has been developed with the utmost care and with a focus on optimal sound quality. It contains four multi-strand conductors, each consisting of 80 individual wires. The conductors are insulated with PTFE, Kapton, and PTFE tape and twisted into pairs, which are then covered with a semi-conductive screen to prevent static charge. A copper braid screen is applied over this, followed by a layer of PTFE tape. Two such twisted pairs are finally wrapped with multiple layers of PTFE tape and finished with a rubber jacket. The result is a dual-channel cable in which signal conductors and signal ground are maintained at a defined distance from one another, which prevents field effects.
