A new concept of Class AD amplifier. The amplifier has evolved from Class A to AB and then to Class D. Class AB was developed to
improve the high heat generation and low efficiency of A.
Class D has higher efficiency and power than AB, and also significantly improved
S/N and THD characteristics compared to A and AB.
However, sound quality was rated as inferior to A/AB due to the limitations of digital circuitry. The Class AD GaN amplifier developed by HiFi ROSE has drastically improved the problems
of existing Class D by using innovative new materials.

Class AD amplifier Class D amplifiers have a topology that theoretically offers a
perfect linear output at 0% distortion and 100% power efficiency. To achieve this, the switching process requires high speed and accuracy. However, previous products were weak in terms of linearity compared to Class A/AB due to the limitations of
silicon FETs, which could not produce a smooth and natural sound. In the RA180, a new material, GaN FET, was used instead of silicon FET to solve this problem. The dead time was dramatically improved to 1/10th or less, and a near-perfect linear output was
realized with a switching speed close to zero. This linearity transcends the limits of Class D and produces a smooth
and natural sound, like an analog amplifier.

Multi-output component The RA180 consists of two modules: one AMP module specialized for stable mid-bass and balance, and another specialized for smooth high-frequency tones and super-tweeter ranges. Each AMP module supports 200 W (8 Ω) and can output up to 400 W per channel. If two independent modules are connected separately to the high and low frequencies of a speaker, driving power can be significantly improved
without being affected by back-electromotive force.
