For those who appreciate the sound signature of the legendary original HIFIMAN HE1000 but do not wish to spend at the level of its successors, the HE1000 V2 or HE1000se, HIFIMAN now has a new planar magnetic headphone in its portfolio. The HIFIMAN Arya combines the sound quality of the HE1000 with a good touch of warmth and additionally improves wearing comfort by utilizing the proven design of the Edition X V2. The models delivered from autumn 2021 onwards use the "Stealth Magnets" from the larger HIFIMAN series, making them sound even more refined.

The headband suspension of the all-black HIFIMAN Arya consists of a lightweight metal frame and aluminum yokes to hold the open, oval ear cups. Weighing just 404g, the headphones sit comfortably even during long listening sessions. The proven, black-painted "Window Shade Grills" are fitted into the ear cups to protect the driver, which in turn is based on the drivers of the first HE1000. As with other HIFIMAN models, the thickness of the diaphragm is in the nanometer range. Like the HE1000, the Arya uses an asymmetrical magnet structure, meaning that the magnets on the inside, facing the ear, are smaller than those on the outside. This leads to reduced diffraction effects and thus a more natural sound.

The Arya is supplied with Ultrapads V2 ear pads, a combination of synthetic leather on the outside, polyester covering, and perforated synthetic leather on the inside. These can be replaced.

The included 1.5 m HIFIMAN cable is made of monocrystalline copper in a black braided sleeve. It is configured with a 6.35 mm jack at the input end and two 3.5 mm stereo jacks at the ear cups. The cable is designed with four conductors inside to minimize crosstalk between channels. Anyone interested in a longer or sonically superior cable should look into a CLEAR Light or CLEAR from Cardas Audio. Those looking for a good adapter from a 6.35 mm jack to a 3.5 mm jack will also find what they need there.

The Arya prefers amplifiers with powerful headphone outputs or headphone amplifiers with an output of 1 watt or more into its 35-ohm impedance. Combining it with mobile phones is not recommended. It requires around 120 hours of operation to sound completely free and airy. Once broken in, it offers a soundstage that appears both rich and detailed and is blessed with lush spatiality.
