Product description

With Audivina, HIFIMAN has created a portmanteau for the name of its closed-back studio headphones. It combines the Latin imperative "Audi" ("Listen!") with the word "Vina," which originates from Sanskrit and refers to an Indian lute instrument. Audivina was developed for use in the recording studio, but is also excellently suited for audiophile music listeners who do not want to disturb those around them—for example, in an office.

Like all larger HIFIMAN headphones, Audivina uses a magnetostatic driver. With this type of driver, a very thin film with a thickness in the nanometer range is bonded with extremely thin conductive traces through which the music signal flows. These conductive traces are located within a permanent magnetic field of so-called Stealth magnets, which, due to their shape, minimize unwanted resonances of the air flowing around them. HIFIMAN is considered a technology pioneer in the manufacturing of these diaphragms since it began coating the films with nanoparticles to counteract material aging.

Audivina is a closed-back, over-ear model with ear cups made of lacquered beech wood. Thanks to the design of the cup interior, the headphones offer the acoustics of a perfect concert hall, yet with the richness of detail and intimacy of a jazz club. Their shaping was inspired by the acoustic architecture of the Bayreuth Festspielhaus, whose multi-stage damping helps the listener perceive a wide, detailed soundstage within a small, enclosed space. By directing the sound through the chamber, a wide soundstage is created. While most headphones rely on diffuse-field equalization, which often results in reduced bass reproduction, the Audivina design eliminates resonances and interference. This makes these headphones the ideal substitute for large speakers during mixing and mastering in the studio.

The headband construction made of flexible steel and aluminum offers high wearing comfort, even during long sessions at the mixing console, and can be reliably adjusted. The ear pads are made of synthetic leather and a polyethylene fabric. Their shape is optimized for the human ear and will provide a comfortable seal for most ears. Naturally, the pads can be replaced. Included in the delivery are three connection cables in two lengths with various connection options.

While Audivina is not technically difficult to drive, a high-quality and powerful headphone amplifier with an output power of more than half a watt into 20 ohms is recommended for an optimal listening experience. Ideally, it should feature a balanced headphone output.
