Product description

The HIFIMAN Serenade is a streamer, DAC, and headphone amplifier in one, and looks outrageously good in its aluminum housing to boot. This versatile device in a compact form factor was created in collaboration with Chinese amplifier specialist Goldenwave. Dr. Fang Bian was so pleased with the result that Goldenwave became part of HIFIMAN shortly thereafter.

Inside the Serenade is HIFIMAN's proprietary Hymalaya ladder DAC in an improved Pro version, specifically one DAC unit per channel. High-quality FET operational amplifiers, a discrete low-pass filter section, and Class A headphone amplification, powered by a 50-watt toroidal transformer and a robust 30,000 microfarad capacity, ensure the rest of the sonic excellence.

Serenade is an all-around talent: On its rear panel, it offers a connection option for an analog source via RCA and four connection options for digital sources (coax / Toslink / USB / LAN). Headphones can be connected balanced via 4-pin XLR and 4.4mm PENTACONN or unbalanced via a classic 6.35mm jack. On the back, there is a pair of XLR outputs and a pair of RCA outputs for connecting the DAC to a proper HiFi system.

At the USB input, for example, mobile music players, smartphones, tablets, or computers serve as the source. If Serenade is connected to the home network with a network cable, it can also be used as a DAC or headphone amplifier. This works with network players, computers, smart devices, and streaming services (e.g., TIDAL or Qobuz) that support renderers (Serenade) in the home network. When used as a DAC, Serenade is simply connected to an amplifier via RCA and/or XLR. Serenade can also act as a digital preamplifier and drive power amplifiers or active speakers. It is important to mention that the volume control is classically analog.

Serenade is ideal for those who have music in digital form on their computer or stream it over a network and want to drive even electrically demanding headphones in outstanding quality.
