With its HE1000 V2 model, HIFIMAN has an outstanding planar magnetic headphone in its range that is considered worldwide to be perhaps the best headphone of all. Now, Dr. Fang Bian is taking an even more uncompromising path. His new premium headphone model, Susvara, is based on the HE1000 V2 but includes three essential changes.

For the Susvara, HIFIMAN has special magnets manufactured that are rounded on the side facing away from the diaphragm. Based on the stealth technology of modern fighter jets, they are referred to as "Stealth Magnets." This shape results in less interference during music playback.

The protective grille on the outside of the headphone is more delicate than on the HE1000 V2 and has a larger diameter. This creates fewer reflections on the "Window Shade Grill" that could diminish the enjoyment of the music.

Third, the diaphragm is also larger than on the HE1000 V2. Instead of aluminum, gold is used for the conductive traces, as it can be applied much more thinly. As a result, the diaphragm, which is already in the nanometer thickness range, is even lighter and capable of reproducing even the finest micro-details without distortion. However, the efficiency is lower than with the HE1000 V2, so only very powerful headphone amplifiers are able to drive a Susvara appropriately. A high-quality hi-fi amplifier that operates stably at a 60-ohm load is also suitable.
