High-End Bass

By utilizing many of JL Audio's key technologies, E-Sub powered subwoofers deliver exceptional sound quality, plenty of power, and an excellent price-performance ratio for a wide range of demanding applications.

The e-Sub drivers utilize exclusive DMA technology to optimize the motor, ensuring linear behavior even at very high excursion levels. Unlike conventional steady-state measurement systems, DMA takes into account the dynamic shifts caused by current flow and back EMF under real-world power conditions with actual program material.

The e-Sub driver's extreme mounting depth was an intentional design choice. It allows for generous spacing between the suspension elements (surround and dual spider) and provides the driver with exceptional mechanical stability throughout its excursion range. This improves linearity, reduces distortion, and enhances long-term reliability. The e-Sub’s front mounting flange is constructed of steel and forms the entire front baffle of the subwoofer, while the rear of the driver is threaded and bolted to the rear wall of the subwoofer enclosure for increased rigidity.

To adequately power these innovative drivers, JL Audio developed an all-new switching amplifier with a regulated switching power supply, which allows the enclosure to be more compact, lighter, and more efficient. At the same time, the integrated amp delivers more than enough clean power to fully exploit the driver's potential.

The amplifier is conveniently controlled via the top control panel of the E-Sub enclosure—after all, nobody likes crawling on the floor behind a subwoofer. An attractive cover conceals and protects the controls during normal use.

A sub for all occasions

The JL Audio e112 is designed to allow for use in a variety of applications—from home theater systems to two-channel music systems to desktop audio workstations. Analog inputs are provided for unbalanced line-level signals or speaker-level signals. Dedicated outputs allow for a bi-amped configuration without additional hardware.

The E-Sub's active crossover is designed as a true two-way, fourth-order Linkwitz-Riley low-pass filter. A high-pass filtered signal can be tapped at the line outputs. When the e112's internal crossover is defeated—as is common in many home theater installations—the outputs provide the original input signal, allowing multiple e-Subs to be easily connected in a "daisy-chain" arrangement. Switchable polarity and fully variable phase control round out the signal processing. All signal processing is performed in the analog domain, which ensures very low latency in critical applications.

All e-Subs are individually performance-verified and tested to ensure years of listening enjoyment in stereo systems and home theaters.
