The 4Point differs from other tonearms by introducing several new and unique features. The new play-free bearing is based on 4 points. The 4POINT tonearm has an effective length of 280 mm (11 inches), a very precise VTA adjustment capability, and fits the standard mounting with a distance of 212 mm (spindle to tonearm base center). The heart of this new design is the unique 4-point bearing. Two points (similar to a uni-pivot bearing) allow and control vertical movements of the tonearm. The other set of two pointed bearings allows and controls horizontal (lateral) movements of the tonearm. All four points of the bearing are free of friction and play in all planes of motion, thus ensuring that the cartridge follows the grooves of an LP with extremely low friction and minimal vibrations.

The main section of the 4POINT is firmly connected to a very rigid and inert VTA tower, which offers the possibility to fine-tune the vertical tracking angle either with the tonearm stationary or while playing an LP. All this, of course, without any loss of rigidity and with 0.01 mm adjustment accuracy and zero play!

The main tube is precisely milled from a solid aluminum rod, similar to our Air Line parallel-tracking tonearm. Two separate troughs offer independent damping of vertical and horizontal resonances, which allows for a very high level of fine adjustment and tuning at any time. If desired, the damping troughs can be easily removed from the tonearm.
The 4POINT is balanced by two counterweights—the main weight allows for an accurate total balance after the cartridge is installed, while the second, smaller weight allows for extremely fine further adjustment for the total accuracy of the tracking force.

The azimuth is adjustable via a precise worm drive mechanism, which allows for very small, repeatable adjustments.

The detachable headshell is another characteristic feature of this superior tonearm. With a small Allen key, the headshell can be completely removed from the arm tube while the entire arm wiring, including the cartridge pins, remains in the tube. The headshell is attached with a hexagonal locking system that offers the same degree of rigidity as if the headshell were permanently connected to the arm tube.

The internal wiring of the 4POINT is of the highest quality (using a special silver alloy). A single, continuous set of 4 wires runs from the cartridge pins to the RCA connectors (total length 1.4 m).

Other wiring options are possible, including bi-wiring: two sets of cables (8 in total) run simultaneously from the cartridge pins into the terminal box, and one set is connected to the RCA jacks, so that an alternative tonearm cable can be used between the 4POINT's terminal box and a phono input of your preamplifier. The second set runs directly and continuously from the cartridge pins to the RCA plugs.

The 4Point tonearm is supplied as a single-wire, just like the 4P9 and 4P14. Optionally, it is possible to order other wiring configurations: XLR, RCA jack, bi-wiring,… Lemo.

4Point bearing modification:

Official as of January 1st, 2019
As a standard, all 4Point tonearms are now supplied with sapphire/ruby bearing cups instead of polished steel cups. This reduces friction and noise levels in the bearings, thus improving performance.

All 4P11 (from S/N 280651 and higher) and 4P14 (from S/N 310101 and higher) have been equipped with sapphire/ruby cups since July 1st, 2018.
