It is a linear tangential tonearm with an air bearing that produces virtually no friction when in motion, while at the same time maintaining a rigid bearing. The cartridge is thus held in the same position as the cutting head.

The Air Line tonearm is the result of a combination of experience in manufacturing top-class conventional radial tonearms and new research into air bearing technology.
The Air Line tonearm also features a rigid, minimally resonating aluminum structure and is easy to adjust, with repeatable, precise VTA and azimuth settings such as can only be found in the best tonearms.

The air bearings used are the same as those in precision measuring and machine tools, which require the highest possible accuracy with friction-free movement and positioning. The gap between the shaft and the bearing is only 5 micrometers. This results in a rigid, low-friction bearing that can withstand a load of over 10 kg. Such a bearing transmits no vibrations and no movement in unwanted directions to the cartridge, so that the cartridge can only collect musical information from the grooves. The compressed air is supplied by the quietest compressors available, which include an air drying unit. It is best positioned outside the listening room and is connected to the tonearm by a thin, extremely flexible plastic hose.
