The Stabi Ref 2 consists of two plates, with each plate being a sandwich construction of two 10 mm thick aluminum plates separated by an acrylic plate, clamped together with pre-stressed, non-magnetic stainless steel screws. The platter chassis (top plate) is suspended on large springs immersed in silicone oil, with a low resonance of 2.2 Hz, which dampens the movements of the springs themselves. The main base (bottom plate) is supported by three aluminum and stainless steel spikes. The top plate can be easily leveled using four knobs. When this plate is lifted (for transport), the silicone suspension containers are automatically sealed.

Two motors in a diamond drive system drive the sub-platter, which features an inverted bearing with a ruby ball. Both the ball and the thrust washer have their own oil bath for lubrication and dampening of any vibrations within the bearing. The platter is also a clamped sandwich construction to combine the strength of aluminum (rigidity) with the damping properties of acrylic, resulting in an exceptionally stable and resonance-free support for records. The mat and the special clamp have a similar construction to the platter and serve to further control all vibrations. The armboard is also designed with a sandwich construction.
