The Matrix Audio ND-1 has been developed for discerning music lovers who expect uncompromising sound quality and state-of-the-art digital technology. Inside, it utilizes the latest AKM flagship architecture, featuring an AK4191EQ modulator and two AK4499EX DACs in a consistent dual-mono configuration. This sophisticated circuitry ensures exceptional detail resolution, superb channel separation, minimal distortion, and an impressively high dynamic range.

Hi-Res Audio up to 32-bit / 768 kHz and DSD512

Enjoy music in the highest resolution. The ND-1 supports PCM up to 32-bit / 768 kHz as well as native DSD512 (22.58 MHz / Octa-DSD), reproducing even the finest details with high fidelity. The result is an exceptionally natural, dynamic, and spatial performance that meets the highest audiophile standards.

Two Sound Profiles at the Touch of a Button

With its unique Timbre Switching function, the ND-1 offers two distinct analog output stages. In Op-Amp mode, it excels with maximum precision, high transparency, and exceptional detail resolution. Conversely, the Transformer mode, featuring high-quality Lundahl transformers, gives the playback a warm, organic, and particularly musical character.

PCM Upsampling and DSD Conversion

The integrated DSP enables high-quality asynchronous PCM resampling as well as real-time conversion from PCM to DSD. This reduces jitter, improves signal quality, and achieves an even more natural and spatial music reproduction.

Extensive Digital Connectivity

The ND-1 offers maximum flexibility for both modern and classic digital sources. In addition to USB-B and USB-C, it provides AES/EBU, coaxial and optical S/PDIF inputs, as well as a high-resolution I²S-LVDS input. All digital inputs are galvanically isolated to minimize interference and ground loops, ensuring a particularly clean signal transmission.

DAC and Preamplifier in One Device

Thanks to the integrated 100-step volume control, the ND-1 can be used both as a classic DAC with a fixed output level and as a high-quality digital preamplifier. Active speakers or power amplifiers can thus be connected directly, without the need for an additional preamp.

Precise Clock Management for Maximum Signal Quality

An ultra-low-noise Femto-clock internally manages high-precision timing. Additionally, the ND-1 features a 10 MHz clock input for connecting external master clocks, such as the Matrix Audio SC-1. This reduces jitter to a minimum and ensures the highest precision in digital signal processing.

Linear Power Supply and Uncompromising Signal Path

Digital and analog circuits are housed on separate boards and powered by a high-performance toroidal transformer with multiple low-noise voltage regulators. This consistent separation minimizes mutual interference and creates optimal conditions for an exceptionally quiet, detailed sound.

Premium Aluminum Housing and Convenient Operation

The precision-machined CNC aluminum chassis reliably protects the sensitive audio technology from vibrations as well as EMI and RFI interference. The housing is complemented by specially developed MA-DAMPER PRO anti-vibration feet for maximum mechanical decoupling. Operation is conveniently handled via the buttons on the front panel or the included remote control.

Perfectly Combinable

The Matrix Audio ND-1 harmonizes perfectly with the Matrix Audio NT-1 Digital Audio Transport and the NA-1 Headphone and Preamplifier. Together, they form a perfectly matched high-end system for uncompromising digital music reproduction at a reference level.
