The Matrix Audio SS-1 has been specially developed for discerning music lovers who want to unlock the full potential of their streaming system. Unlike conventional network switches from the IT world, it specifically optimizes data traffic for digital audio applications. High-quality components, a precise clock system, and consistent suppression of electrical interference create the ideal foundation for stable, high-resolution, and sonically compelling music playback.

Precise femto clock for maximum signal quality

The heart of the SS-1 is a specially selected femto clock with extremely low phase noise. It synchronizes the network controller with maximum precision and reduces timing errors (jitter) to a minimum. The result is a particularly smooth, precise, and stable data stream – the ideal basis for audiophile network streaming.

Six high-quality network ports with 2.5-gigabit technology

The SS-1 features six fully shielded RJ45 ports, specially designed for interference-free audio transmission. Each port has a high-quality, metal-shielded network transformer to effectively reduce radio frequency interference (RFI). The modern network architecture supports transmission rates of up to 2.5 Gbit/s and ensures particularly stable data communication.

Two dedicated 100 Mbps audio ports

Two specially optimized 100 Mbps ports are available for network streamers and audio players. By specifically limiting the bandwidth, unnecessary network activity is reduced, enabling particularly clean signal transmission for sensitive audio components.

Two galvanically isolated SFP+ ports for fiber optics

The two integrated 10 Gbit/s SFP/SFP+ ports enable an optical network connection via fiber optics. This reliably keeps ground loops and high-frequency interference away from the audio network. The result is fully galvanically isolated data transmission for maximum signal purity.

Flexible power supply with upgrade potential

The SS-1 comes standard with a high-quality internal switching power supply. It also has a 12-volt DC input to which an external linear power supply can be connected. In this case, the internal power supply is automatically disconnected, so that the external power is supplied directly to the sensitive circuit areas via the integrated mains filter and several ultra-low-noise voltage regulators – for further optimized signal quality.

Optimized for modern high-end streaming systems

The SS-1 is ideally suited for use with high-quality network streamers, music servers, and DACs. Particularly in audiophile networks, it contributes to more stable signal transmission and audibly calmer playback.

Switchable status LEDs

For a pleasant listening atmosphere, all status indicators on the network ports can be deactivated at the push of a button on the back of the device. This keeps the listening room free of distracting lights, even when the lights are dimmed.

Silent cooling concept

The SS-1 operates completely without fans and is therefore absolutely silent. Generously dimensioned heat sinks ensure efficient heat dissipation and guarantee long-term reliable operation.

Solid CNC aluminum chassis

The precision-milled aluminum chassis reliably protects the sensitive electronics from electromagnetic (EMI) and radio frequency (RFI) interference. The reinforced steel base further increases mechanical stability, and the device feet can be converted to a three-point setup if required. The high-quality chassis design fits seamlessly into the Matrix Audio product family and underscores the uncompromising high-end standard of the SS-1.
