Always striving to deliver the highest possible level of performance in the field of storage and network audio, Melco Audio has launched the C1-D20 SFP+ Direct Attach Cable. The goal of the development was to avoid many of the limitations of network data transmission.
The C1-D20 makes it possible to take control of connectors, cables, and interface electronics, thereby controlling the entire interface as a critical component in the audio chain. This leads to outstanding performance that is not possible with any other connection.

C1-D20 design and construction

SFP completely bypasses the need for the PHY interface and enables direct access to the data stored on the Melco N1 and N5, which leads to a corresponding reduction in data errors and losses and improves the quality of the overall signal. The cable consists of two twisted pairs of silver-plated OFC conductors (instead of four as with an RJ45 cable). Each pair is individually shielded and the entire cable is constructed with high precision to ensure that the technical advantages of the design are also realized in practice.

Improving data integrity (often referred to as the 'eye pattern') has the benefit of reducing the demands on the decoding hardware, as less reinterpretation and reconstruction work is required, resulting in further benefits for the overall audio quality.

The C1-D20 SFP+ is available exclusively in a two-meter length and has been optimized for the requirements of digital audio transmission, where stability and error minimization are more important than high transmission rates. The cable is used between SFP-equipped Melco Music Libraries and the corresponding S10 and S100/2 network switches, providing a high-quality connection between the two devices that is almost completely immune to external interference.

With the C1-D20 SFP+, Melco can establish the best connectivity and interface between its components, far surpassing alternative standard-quality connection options and offering performance that is simply not possible with less demanding network hardware. As a plug-and-play solution, the C1-D20 SFP+ can be used with most audio devices equipped with SFP ports, such as Aurender, HiFi Rose, Linn Klimax DSM, Taiko Audio SGM Extreme / Extreme Switch, SFORZATO DSP-Columba, DSP-Corvus, DST-Lepus.

The C1-D20 SFP+ is constructed to Melco's exacting standards with high-quality SFP connectors and finished with a Flexmesh jacket. This encases a PVC braid, making the cable flexible and easy to route in a system while simultaneously remaining resistant to external interference. Each cable is elegantly packaged in a box with a Japanese "Washi" paper label decorated with a "Yagasuri" arrow pattern.
