D100 – THE LATEST GENERATION OF OPTICAL DRIVES

With the D100, Melco has developed a special type of external CD drive. It fully meets the requirement of ensuring archive-quality CD importing. And as a peripheral solution, it elevates the functionality of the Melco N1 series to a new level. For example, with the option of CD playback via USB as a high-end CD player.
The Melco D100 drive is used for simple CD importing (Red Book) or for direct, real-time CD playback. For CD playback, it is necessary for the Melco streamer/server to be connected to a D/A converter.

HIGHEST STANDARDS OF CRAFTSMANSHIP

The Melco D100 is equipped with a high-quality, latest-generation Japanese drive. The drive cannot be compared in any way with an "inexpensive" disposable IT drive. The high-quality, audio-specific components as well as the Melco drive are mounted on their proprietary HS3 platform.
The elegant silver chassis (with black side panels) visually harmonizes with the N1 series. The solid construction of the device (weight: 3.5 kg) prevents disturbing vibrations.
The Melco D100 is also perfect for customers who want a flawless drive for their computer (PC, Mac, Linux). In combination with the appropriate software, CD rips of the highest quality can also be produced here.

PERFECT CD IMPORTING THANKS TO NEW UV LASER TECHNOLOGY

The CD drive is mounted directly on a 20 mm thick chassis using Melco's anti-vibration platform. At the same time, the newly developed UV laser system (instead of a conventional infrared laser) provides precise optical surface measurements. The UV laser system guarantees optimal scanning of optical media.
The extreme mechanical stability of the device ensures perfect CD importing.

NEVER RIP AGAIN!

The imported file remains in the unit in archive quality. This means: Never rip again. The imported files are saved on the hard drive as FLAC or (optionally) WAV files; the metadata, including cover art, is embedded directly.
The control circuitry was developed according to audiophile standards. An extremely low-jitter clock generator results in very accurate reading and data transmission.

TWO USB 3.0 PORTS – MANY APPLICATION POSSIBILITIES

The rear panel features two USB 3.0 ports. One port is used for direct connection to a Melco for data importing. Another option is to connect the D100 directly to a USB DAC or another USB 3.0 storage medium or import device.
Controlled via the front panel interface of all Melco Digital Music Libraries, the D100 utilizes the Melco DIRECT CD PLAY function. If the Melco is connected to an external USB DAC, it can be used as a high-end CD player.
By deliberately separating the CD mechanism from the storage unit of the main Melco libraries, system reliability is ensured and sound quality is maximized.
