MUSICAL FIDELITY M2si – everyone should have one!

The M2si offers 6 line-level inputs, one of which can be switched either as an AUX input or as an HT (Home Theater) input directly to the integrated power amplifier, bypassing the volume control.

The M2si stands for highly impressive high-end sound quality. Its continuous power of 75 watts into 8 ohms and 135 watts into 4 ohms is absolutely sufficient for almost all applications. The high reservoir capacity enables a stable and deep stereo soundstage with impulsive dynamics. On top of that, the M2si also offers flawless resolution.

The M2si also benefits from MUSICAL FIDELITY's exclusive SMD circuit board technology. This reduces the space required by the circuits on the main board and gives us much more flexibility in circuit design.

As is customary at MUSICAL FIDELITY, the measured values are not an end in themselves, yet they are impressive. Distortion is at 0.014%. Frequency response linearity is an impressive -0.1 dB across the entire frequency band. The M2si is characterized by very low distortion, less than 0.02% (measured from 20Hz to 20KHz).

Most manufacturers do not measure over the entire frequency range because they do not consider it relevant. They argue that one cannot hear such high frequencies and therefore consider this irrelevant. We cannot disagree strongly enough!

We know that high-frequency distortion is critical to the accuracy of the entire circuit and its implementation for sound. Being able to drive speakers without distortion under all loads with a large bandwidth is the most important foundation for music.
The preamp in the M2si is a true Class-A circuit and has its own power supply and a separate transformer winding. It is effectively a pre/power amplifier combination in one chassis.
