The MUSICAL FIDELITY is an extensive further development of the successful predecessor model, the M3i. Additional inputs, higher power, and virtual monoblock power amplifiers, each with its own power supply, combine to create a magnificent integrated amplifier.

In addition to 4 line-level inputs, the M3si also offers a connection for a turntable. A high-quality equalization preamplifier prepares the delicate signals from your cartridge in the best possible way and routes them via the shortest possible paths to the line-level preamplifier stage. Not only that, the M3si also features a USB digital input that accepts signals from a PC, notebook, or Mac. It includes an integrated digital-to-analog converter that registers as an external sound card in the operating system and handles all signal processing.

The M3si stands for highly impressive high-end sound quality. Because its power has been significantly increased and the filter capacitance of the power supply has been almost doubled, it delivers a broad, more stable, and deeper stereo soundstage with enormous dynamics. On top of that, the M3si also offers flawless resolution.

The M3si also benefits from MUSICAL FIDELITY's exclusive SMD circuit board technology. This reduces the space required by the circuits on the mainboard and gives us much more flexibility in circuit design.

It was also important to us to provide more inputs and noticeably increase the power supply capacity of the power amplifier. This is handled by a pair of large power supply capacitors for each channel. The output power is a generous 90 watts per side into 8 ohms. The M3si now has a reassuring foundation of power.

As is typical for MUSICAL FIDELITY, the measured values are not an end in themselves but are nonetheless impressive. Distortion is at 0.007%. Even at 10 kHz, it is only 0.010%. This is what defines MUSICAL FIDELITY's skillful circuit design. As frequency increases, most amplifiers suffer from a massive rise in distortion.

We at MUSICAL FIDELITY hold the view that distortion values in the high-frequency range should not be higher than those in the low-frequency range (LF distortion). This is of great importance for sound quality. The signal-to-noise ratio has been improved by more than 3 dB. This is a significant step toward ensuring music is transmitted with a greater dynamic range.

Thanks to the virtual mono power amplifier configuration with high capacity, it is able to celebrate bass with plenty of punch and depth. Or, as the trade magazine Audio writes: "Outstandingly broad and deep reproduction perspectives for this price class." And Stereo concludes: "It climbs the sympathy ladder with vivacity and playing joy."

A special feature that all MUSICAL FIDELITY amplifiers possess is the AUX / HT input. With this input, it is possible to route the signal from a multi-channel processor directly to the power amplifier stages of the M3si for the two front speakers. This allows even demanding cinephiles to utilize the sound quality of their M3si without having to disconnect cables or forgo the extensive convenience features of their AV controller. Volume and bass management are then handled by the processor, with the M3si acting solely as a power amplifier in that moment. This also allows for further configurations, such as bi-amping with a second M3si or setups with active crossovers.

The integrated phono stage is also outstanding. It has very precise RIAA equalization, which deviates by just ± 0.5 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. It maintains its precision up to 50 kHz. The MM signal-to-noise ratio is an excellent 88 dB. The total distortion of the phono stage is an excellent 0.3%. It should be noted that for speakers, distortion of 1% on average and for cartridges, 3% are considered acceptable.

The asynchronous 24-bit / 96 kHz USB input connects to a PC, notebook, or Mac and enables high-quality playback of modern media with the shortest and most optimally matched signal paths. Simply connect a USB cable to your computer, and you can enjoy HD audio for videos, music, and streaming. Jitter and noise are incredibly low and distortion is practically non-existent. The USB input of the M3si is capable of teasing out the finest details from the computer source.
