Like all new amplifier designs from MUSICAL FIDELITY, the M5si works exclusively with SMD technology circuit boards. This significantly reduces the size of a board and allows the developer much greater flexibility in circuit design. As a result, we were able to design the M5si as a preamplifier with two completely separate and independent monoblock power amplifiers. We are therefore dealing with a true preamplifier with a separately regulated power supply plus discrete monoblock power amplifiers that simply share a single chassis.

Because of its configuration as a preamp with two monoblock power amplifiers, both channels work almost completely independently of each other – which is what one would expect from a preamplifier with separate power amps, but not from a standard integrated amplifier. With 150 watts of power per channel into 8 ohms at less than 0.010% distortion, the M5si confidently drives almost any loudspeaker to its peak performance. Its current delivery capability of 62 amperes and a damping factor of 36 across the entire frequency range do the rest.

The integrated phono stage is equally outstanding. It features highly precise RIAA equalization, which deviates by just ± 0.5 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The asynchronous 24-bit / 96 kHz USB input connects to a PC, notebook, or Mac, enabling very high-quality playback of modern media with the shortest and optimally matched signal paths.

The elegant housing is ultra-solid and manufactured with the highest precision. The massive heatsinks allow the power amplifier to always operate under optimal temperature conditions due to their special horizontal design.
