The M8sPRE offers a wide range of inputs to meet the requirements of traditional and modern home entertainment systems. It features a low-noise MM / MC phono stage, two balanced inputs, and five line-level inputs. One input is designed as a fully configured tape loop (In / Out).
One balanced and one unbalanced input can each be switched to bypass the volume control, serving as a home cinema bypass input. Its outputs are designed to be both unbalanced and balanced, and it has a trigger control input and output.

With the revision of the M8-PRE to the M8sPRE, MUSICAL FIDELITY has utilized years of experience in circuit design (both discrete and SMD) to push the sonic results to the limit. Technical measurements confirm the exceptional status of the M8sPRE: from ultra-low distortion to an almost perfect frequency response, science proves what you can clearly hear.
The first extraordinary feature of the M8sPRE preamplifier is its truly fully balanced design. Most rival pre-amps that claim to be similar are actually unbalanced models with a balanced input and output; that is, of course, by no means the same as the completely fully balanced layout of the M8sPRE.

This quality continues in the refined configurations of the M8sPRE's pure Class-A circuitry. The inputs are equipped with a high overload margin. Due to its high input and low output impedance, the M8sPRE can be easily driven by almost any connected device. The outputs of the M8sPRE are designed to drive any power amplifier over almost any cable length. Although, of course, the matching M8s700m monoblock is its optimal partner...

Regarding input options: The phono stage features a low-noise MM/MC design with the highly accurate RIAA equalization for which MUSICAL FIDELITY is so famous, low distortion values, and a large overload margin – all of which make the M8sPRE a great partner for record players.
Two fully balanced inputs, five line-level inputs, and a fully configured tape loop (input and output) offer plenty of flexibility for other sources, whether traditional or modern. To ensure the M8sPRE can also be seamlessly integrated into an ambitious music and film system, it features two high-quality fixed-level bypass inputs, both unbalanced and balanced.

The M8s high-tech design leads to exceptional performance that can, of course, be measured. Technical analyses show that the M8sPRE has tiny distortion values (less than 0.003%), an extremely high signal-to-noise ratio (117 dB/A), a very high bandwidth (-3 dB to 75 kHz), and a remarkably flat frequency response. Channel separation is 96 dB at 1 kHz.
Finally, the M8sPRE also features an exceptional power supply. Each channel has a dedicated low-hum 350VA mains transformer, with each stage of every channel equipped with its own regulation circuit for optimized performance and isolation.
