Product description
The supreme discipline of music reproduction is the analog vinyl record, and thus the turntable is the crowning achievement of any hi-fi system. Although astonishing results can often be achieved with modest means, the perfectionist is eventually driven to an object that allows for no compromises and where maximum attention is paid to every single detail.
We now have this object before us: the MUSICAL FIDELITY M8xTT. The naming clearly indicates this: devices in the M8 line from MUSICAL FIDELITY have always met the highest standards - both aesthetically and audiophile. Look forward to rediscovering your record collection!
The features

The turntable drive.
Every analog lover knows it. The sound of a turntable starts with the drive. The task is deceptively simple. A record should be rotated under the stylus at 33 revolutions. Now, from a technical perspective, a vinyl record is not a perfect medium, and any effort to help it spin completely quietly and stoically is musically noticeable.
Consequently, the pinnacle of turntable construction has always been the use of sheer mass. And the M8xTT goes all out in every respect.
For the chassis, acrylic is the material of choice, as it has two properties that serve us well here:
high rigidity combined with internal damping.
The M8xTT relies on two acrylic chassis. This allows the drive motor to be positioned without physical contact with the playing upper level. At the same time, the overall construction with its clever design ensures that the sensitive scanning process of the cartridge is not impaired by anything.
Magnetically suspended feet.
The two acrylic chassis stand on magnetically suspended feet, which are adjustable in height for optimal leveling of the turntable.
For the best support of the magnets, they are embedded in Teflon. Thus, the M8xTT stands perfectly regardless of the platform on which you position it.
The platter.
The platter is the bed for the record. It should feel comfortable there. A record prefers to be where things are quiet and free of resonance.
The combination of two heavy aluminum platters and connecting bolts with a differing alloy ensures absolute silence and constant conditions.
The standard, color-matched leather mat then provides the perfect contact with the record. Also included is an aluminum record puck, which significantly improves the traction of the needle in the groove. That this also makes the occasional warped record enjoyable again is a welcome side effect.
Inverted platter bearing.
The motor.
The motor, which is mounted on the lower acrylic chassis with damping, has no contact other than via the belt with the upper acrylic chassis, on which the parts responsible for reproduction (platter with bearing and tonearm) are mounted.
The motor electronics are supplied with DC voltage and are designed so that all necessary supply voltages for the synchronous motor are completely regenerated with the help of an integrated sine wave generator, thus being independent of mains voltage and frequency. A convenient switch between the two speeds of 33 and 45 rpm is done at the push of a button.
The drive belt is guided around the entire platter. This leads to absolute speed stability and effective transmission of the motor torque, resulting in a wonderfully powerful sound image.
The platter runs on an upright, and thus inverted, platter bearing. The sintered bronze bearing bush, which is incorporated into the aluminum platter, runs on a polished ceramic ball that rests on a mirror-polished, upright bearing shaft.
The material combination and texture are inherently lubricious, and the construction is designed to be maintenance-free. This ensures that the platter bearing will function excellently for many years.
The tonearm.
The M8xTT's tonearm also follows the same consistent path as the turntable drive.
A tonearm with a 10-inch length (effective tonearm length 254 mm) is, by design, capable of reading the record more perfectly than the common 9-inch designs.
