The MUSICAL FIDELITY MX-VYNL is a fully balanced phono stage preamplifier for both MM and MC cartridges. It represents the current state of the art, and not just within its price range, but far beyond it. The list of features is almost daunting for a phono stage, and the MX-VYNL is one of the very few phono preamplifiers that even offers the option of balanced operation at the input.

The MX-VYNL offers two different gain settings for both amplification types (MM & MC). Depending on your hi-fi system setup, this allows you to compensate for significant volume differences between your other sources. Furthermore, it allows for better adjustment to the varying output voltages of different cartridges.

The RIAA / IEC switch makes it possible to slightly attenuate extreme low-frequency bass in the gain stage. This is particularly useful as a rumble filter (subsonic filter) and is of interest primarily to owners of suspended sub-chassis turntables.

With the dial on the right side, you can optimally terminate your cartridge. Experience shows that the internationally accepted standard values (MM 47 kOhm / 100pF; MC 100 Ohm) do not always lead to optimal results. The MX-VYNL provides the opportunity here to drive every cartridge to its peak performance. Unlike many competing products, the MX-VYNL allows for the simple adjustment of these settings while playing, in order to find the optimal configuration.

However, the true highlight of the MX-VYNL is located on the back panel – the balanced input. A brief excursion: a cartridge signal is basically the only truly fully balanced signal in the entire hi-fi world, where two mirroring voltages are actually generated per channel. What a sacrilege to simply ground half of these signal components as is usually the case – especially for the most sensitive signal in the entire system.

The MX-VYNL now puts an end to this. On the far left input, the cartridge can be connected in a fully balanced manner. Thanks to the fully balanced signal processing in the MX-VYNL, not the slightest bit of signal is lost. We are happy to offer you appropriately configured cables.

The consistent use of SMD technology in the circuit board layout significantly reduces board size and grants the designer much greater flexibility in circuit design. This allows all circuits to be engineered with significantly lower distortion and noise, resulting in truly breathtaking measured values.
