The NAD C 268 is a remarkably affordable stereo power amplifier, featuring a variety of functions and technologies not found in other amplifiers in this class. Not only is it the perfect companion for the NAD C 658 preamplifier, but it can also be used in numerous other configurations – for example, in combination with any stereo or A/V preamplifier, for bi-amping your speakers, or as an upgrade for the NAD C 368 integrated amplifier, allowing both amplifiers to be operated in bridged mode. In mono mode, the NAD C 268 achieves a continuous output of an impressive 300 watts into 8 ohms; when both channels are used separately, it still delivers a generous 2 x 80 watts. For connection to the preamplifier, both balanced XLR inputs and classic RCA jacks are available. To enable optimal volume matching of all power amplifiers used in a setup, the C 268 features an input level control.

HybridDigital™ – Class D Amplifier

The C 268 utilizes innovative HybridDigital™ technology. This is a self-oscillating Class D amplifier that operates with active feedback. It first converts the analog waveform input signal into a square-wave signal using pulse-width modulation (PWM). The musical information is now contained exclusively in the varying pulse width. Since the power transistors only require two switching states – on or off – HybridDigital™ Class D amplifiers operate extremely efficiently, unlike Class A and B technology, and achieve a power efficiency of more than 90%.
