The CI 8-150 DSP is the flagship amplifier for professional custom installation systems from NAD. The 8-channel power amplifier is impressive not only for its extremely high output power, but it has also been specifically designed for stability and durability in rack-mount environments. Measuring just nine centimeters (two rack units) high, the unit features eight HybridDigital™ nCore amplifier stages, each delivering a continuous output power of 150 watts, or 4 x 300 watts in bridged mode (each at 8 Ω).

Flexible Application Options

The CI 8-150 DSP offers extremely flexible application options. The amplifier is network-controlled and can be configured and calibrated by the installer via a web-based user interface. The interface provides access to the digital multi-channel signal processing (DSP), insight into temperature and power status, as well as basic troubleshooting functions such as power cycling, factory resets, and updates.

In addition, the power amplifier allows the individual amplifier channels to be driven separately with an input signal or to supply all channels with the same audio signal via the "Global" inputs (and loop this through to another power amplifier if required). This allows for custom-tailored control of even larger installations in hospitality, conference rooms, or home cinemas. Long cable runs and challenging speaker loads present no problems for this NAD power plant.

Efficient Class D Amplifiers with Enormous Power

Instead of old-fashioned linear power supplies and Class AB amplifiers, which convert nearly half of the required energy into heat rather than power, NAD now uses only switching power supplies and Class D amplifier stages in its current amplifiers. This design operates very linearly across a wide bandwidth and provides consistent power to all speaker loads, representing a dramatic advancement over earlier technologies. The CI 8-150 DSP mobilizes a continuous output of 8 x 180 watts and up to 8 x 280 watts of dynamic power (each at 4 Ω). In bridged mode, the NAD even delivers a dynamic power output of 670 watts (all channels driven) or 800 watts (two channels driven).
