Intense musical enjoyment by tradition

The ND 555 is the result of over 40 years of experience in the development of high-quality audio components. From the innovative streaming module to the authentic-sounding audio circuits – everything carries the DNA of our best products and offers the sound quality typical of Naim. Developing the ND 555 also enabled us to implement new technologies: for the first time, we are using the LVDS interface standard in a premium player, which offers higher speeds and enables greater sonic fidelity due to its low power requirements.

Perfect craftsmanship

The ND 555 impresses from the inputs to the outputs with innovative technical solutions. For signal transmission in the streaming section, the latest Naim network card and the interference-resistant, high-speed LVDS standard are employed. Due to the high clock rate, all HD audio formats up to 32-bit/384 kHz or DSD 128 can be decoded. However, our new streaming board does not use the source as a digital clock, but rather the master clock of the D/A converter used in the ND 555. The data is processed via oversampling in a SHARC DSP with an extreme precision of 40 bits before being forwarded to the Burr-Brown® PCM1704 D/A converter. This high-precision R2R converter is valued for its superior sound quality.

The Naim DR voltage regulators from our amplifier series and power supplies are being used in a network player for the first time, where they provide the highly sensitive audio circuits of the ND 555 with an extremely stable DC voltage. In the analog sections, only high-quality through-hole components are used, which are mounted on a decoupled sub-chassis with heavy brass plates to protect against microphonics.
