The Opera-Consonance Air-1 Air is a turntable featuring a mass-loaded drive and three-point suspension, an air-bearing tangential tonearm (LT-1s), and an air-bearing platter.

The AIR-1 AIR is the first turntable in Opera's 30-year history to play records entirely while suspended in the air. The platter is driven via a floating sub-platter, which is powered by a silicone thread.

The technical design consists of two solid black or gold aluminum tiers and an extremely rigid construction to provide perfect support for the air bearings. The two aluminum plates are joined by a specially developed rubber layer, enabling excellent decoupling and suspension. With the help of three feet, the massive AIR-1 AIR stands perfectly stable and can be leveled in an instant. The LT-1S comes pre-installed, allowing the turntable to be fully operational in just a few simple steps. Once your desired cartridge is installed and the counterweight adjusted, the AIR-1 AIR can be connected to the external air supply and your phono stage.

The VTA (Vertical Tracking Angle) is then set using the large adjustment screw while playing your first vinyl record. The speed can be changed and adjusted independently via a toggle switch. The control unit used here has been in service since 2016 in our Walküre mk2 and is used in the AIR-1 AIR in a slightly modified form. The platter drive operates via a small, invisible sub-platter and utilizes the silicone thread known from Opera. Power is supplied via an external 12V DC power adapter, which enables a clean and consistent power flow.

Never before has it been this easy to set up a turntable with such technical sophistication and to enjoy it for years, maintenance-free and without compromise. Another masterpiece by Liu that combines design, haptics, and the highest level of technical expertise.
