The Ortofon MC A Mono Heritage is a phono cartridge for mono vinyl records with microgrooves (from approx. 1950 onwards), which was developed based on the technical foundation of the Ortofon MC A95 Heritage. If you have always wanted to know what is really on your microgroove mono records, the MC A Mono Heritage will serve it to you on a silver platter.

A stylus with a sharper cut than is usual for mono cartridges minimizes the groove noise often distracting with worn and slightly damaged records. The resolution is superior to the spherical styli usually found on mono cartridges. A mono generator with only one coil produces an identical signal for the right and left channels, making unrestricted use in a two-channel system possible.

Reduced to the generator carrier, which is manufactured using the Selective Laser Melting* process, a further improvement in vibration behavior and a comparatively low weight for MC cartridges could be achieved, which expands the range of compatible tonearms.

*SLM process: Powdered material is applied in layers of just a few nanometers and fused layer by layer with a laser. This allows cavities such as cable channels to be realized in workpieces in a way that cannot be achieved subsequently by drilling or milling. Homogeneity and specific density are similar to that of the base material. The resulting workpiece (cartridge housing) is very difficult to set into vibration, which is conducive to controlled reproduction over the entire frequency range.
