Palma DHS-1 - the world's first convertible high-end headphones

The Palma DHS-1 is a completely new headphone concept that allows the most demanding audiophiles to experience two sound worlds in one device: open and closed. Thanks to a purely mechanical, patented system, the mode can be changed with a simple 14º rotation of the locking discs – without compromising high-end sound quality.

How the Palma DHS-1 works
The sound leaves the driver in two directions: forward – towards the ear – and backward. In closed mode, the rear sound is reflected inside the chamber, thus influencing the sound image. By turning the locking discs by 14º and opening the acoustic chambers, the reverberation energy is reduced by about 80%. The result: a more defined sound image and a significantly larger-sounding space.

Variation of the imaging without loss of sound
The biggest challenge was not simply switching between closed and open mode, but enabling this without altering the sound, only the acoustic imaging. Sapele wood was chosen for the housings to add musical warmth to the analytical sound. Ear pads and headband made of the finest lambskin also ensure maximum comfort – even during long listening sessions.
