Product description

The younger brother of the Xtension 12 Evolution guarantees superlative vinyl performance in compact dimensions

The Xtension 10 Evolution is perfect for those who love the sound quality of the Xtension 12 Evolution but are looking for a device with a rack-friendly width of 48cm. All our experience from more than 20 years of turntable construction can be found here. The chassis of the Xtension 10 Evolution consists of MDF filled with metal granulate, which allows for high mass and low resonance. Magnetic field feet ensure optimal decoupling of the 22-kilogram Xtension 10 Evolution, which represents a perfect symbiosis of the mass-loaded and sub-chassis principles. The platter, weighing nearly six kilograms, is quieted with a TPE ring. An inverted, magnet-supported platter bearing with ceramic running surfaces ensures rumble values close to the measurement limit. Two repelling neodymium magnets significantly reduce the weight load of the platter on the bearing. This significantly improves the smoothness of the bearing. A record puck improves the contact between the record and the platter.

The medium-mass tonearm is excellently suited for MM and MC cartridges. The conical tonearm tube and the headshell are made from a single piece of carbon fiber, thus exhibiting high rigidity and low resonance. Ball bearings in ABEC 7 quality allow the arm tube to move with almost no mechanical resistance. The stylus can thus follow the record groove unhindered. Its length of 10 inches reduces the tracking angle error again – compared to a 9-inch tonearm. Tracking distortion is thus further minimized.

The various versions of the Pro-Ject Xtension Evolution differ in their features and the size of the chassis. The digit in the model name indicates the length of the installed tonearm. Evolution tonearms from Pro-Ject Audio in lengths of 9, 10, and 12 inches are used.

Exquisite veneers and high-gloss finishes make the player a feast for the eyes.

Drive

  • Chassis surface in piano lacquer black, white, and red, veneered and high-gloss lacquered in mahogany, olive, and walnut burl, or veneered and silk-matt lacquered in walnut, eucalyptus, rosewood, and walnut burl
  • Electronic speed selection between 33 and 45 rpm, manual setting option for 78 rpm. Fine adjustment (pitch control)
  • The chassis made of compressed wood fibers filled with metal granulate stands on four magnetic field feet
  • The resonance-optimized platter is a sandwich construction consisting of a TPE-damped, polished aluminum platter, a precision-ground mat made of vinyl record material, and a record puck
  • The inverted, magnet-supported platter bearing consists of a stationary stainless steel axle with a ceramic ball, on which a bushing with a ceramic bearing base rotates
  • Integrated motor control (sine wave generator)
  • External power supply to protect against mechanical and electromagnetic interference
  • A transparent Plexiglas dust cover mounted on hinges is included

Tonearm Pro-Ject 10cc Evolution

  • Straight 10-inch tonearm
  • Supplied with low-output MC cartridge Sumiko Songbird Low
  • Counterweights for cartridges weighing 4 to 6 g, 5 to 8 g, 6 to 10 g, and 8 to 14 g included. Further counterweights for cartridges weighing 15 to 20 g and 16 to 22 g are available as optional accessories
  • The conical tonearm tube and headshell are made from a single piece of carbon fiber
  • The tonearm tube can be rotated after loosening a screw. This enables horizontal (azimuth) adjustment of the cartridge
  • The tonearm base offers an adjustment option for the vertical tracking angle (VTA)
  • Inverted tonearm bearing with ABEC 7 quality ball bearings
  • A 5-pin tonearm standard socket allows the connection of individual phono cables
  • Includes either a Connect it / 5P-CC tonearm cable (unbalanced cable) or a Connect it / 5P-XLR-CC (balanced cable) with a length of 123cm

Connection

  • MC phono input on the amplifier or external phono preamplifier. Alternatively, at the MM input together with an MC transformer
